**Job Description: Fabric Cutter**

**Position Overview**:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fabric Cutter to join our team in Hamilton. The Fabric Cutter will be responsible for preparing and cutting fabric according to specified patterns, designs, and measurements. This role requires precision, organization, and the ability to work efficiently to meet production deadlines while ensuring the highest quality standards.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Accurately cut fabric using manual or automated cutting tools according to patterns, templates, or instructions with speed and precision. As we are a fast-paced studio, accuracy and speed are equally valued.
- Measure, mark, and prepare fabric for cutting, ensuring optimal use of materials to minimize waste. This is important for us, as we are a zero waste upcycling studio. Creativity counts.
- Handle various types of fabrics, including delicate or specialty materials, with care to avoid damage.
- Operate and maintain cutting equipment, such as rotary cutters, straight knives, or electric production cutters.
- Inspect fabrics for defects or inconsistencies before cutting, and problem solve.
- Collaborate with designers, production teams, and pattern makers to meet specifications and resolve cutting challenges.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring tools and materials are stored properly.
- Follow health and safety guidelines when working with sharp tools.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Proven experience as a Fabric Cutter or in a similar role in the têxtile, garment, or upholstery industry. At least 5 years experience required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to cut fabric with precision.
- Familiarity with cutting tools and equipment, including their operation and maintenance.
- Basic math skills for measuring and calculating fabric dimensions.
- Ability to read and interpret technical patterns and instructions.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines. Overtime where needed to meet production deadlines.
- Knowledge of pattern making is a plus.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience in industrial or large-scale apparel production settings. 5 Years.
- Knowledge of automated and manual fabric cutting machines.
- Highly organized and able to keep chaos to a minimum with a fast-paced setting.
- Familiarity with sewing, garment construction and pattern making is an advantage.

**Work Environment**:

- Standing for extended periods while cutting fabric.
- Handling and lifting fabric rolls or bundles (may require some physical strength). Accommodations can be made.
- Exposure to noise from cutting machinery.

**Salary**:
Competitive, based on experience and skills.

**Schedule**:
Full-time, with potential overtime during peak production periods.
