The Cook shall perform a variety of cooking tasks following standardized recipes and using appropriate
preparation techniques in accordance with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care requirements,
Canada’s Food Guide and the expertise of the Hospital’s Dietician. He/she is responsible for the preparation
of attractive and palatable meals while ensuring that food is adequate in quality and nutrition.

**QUALIFICATIONS:
- Chef training or culinary management diploma from a program that meets the standard established

by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities
- Safe Food Handling Course
- Understanding of therapeutic diets and menus
- Commercial cooking experience in a health care facility an asset
- Good physical condition
- Ability to perform routine cleaning duties and assume responsibility for high standards of sanitation
- in the department
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- Excellent customer service/communication skills
- Good organization skills and problem solving, with ability to set own priorities, use critical thinking
- and work with mínimal supervision
- Ability to work collaboratively in a health care team setting
- Excellent attendance record
