Hull Services has long had a reputation for providing leading edge child, youth, and family mental health services. We work with children, youth and families who have experienced mental health struggles, behavioural problems, developmental delay, neglect, abuse and trauma. Hull’s programs and services include prevention and early intervention, family-based treatment, school-based services, community group care, campus-based care, adult services and education and training. Located in Calgary, we have been serving Alberta’s young people and families for 60 years, and support over 8,000 young people and families each year.
**The Position**:
Hull Services is looking for a **temporary, full-time Communications and Design Coordinator **to join the Communications team. **This is an 18 month contract position.**
Reporting to the Communications Manager this position supports the Communications department in developing and monitoring communications strategies and materials that support the Agency’s strategic plan and goals. The Coordinator works with the Communications team and other programs at Hull requiring communications support to create and execute communication strategies and develop design materials and collateral to support their needs and raise the Agency’s profile.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Works closely with Hull programs that require Communication’s support to create and execute communication strategies to meet their goals.
- Support the Agency with writing and editing for value creation, stakeholder communications and brand collateral.
- Write a variety of different content to support Agency communications and marketing efforts, including feature stories, newsletters, website copy, brochures, and ad copy.
- Evaluating communication strategies and campaigns to determine their effectiveness.
- Ensure all marketing and promotional materials align with the Agency’s brand.
- Coordinate and execute communications needs to support the Agency’s internal communications strategy.
- Working in conjunction with the rest of the Communications team, support the Agency’s social media strategy by creating and monitoring content for all the social media channels.
- Working closely with the Communications Manager, supports the Agency’s digital communication needs.
- Updates the Hull Services external website and the Agency’s intranet with relevant and engaging content.
- Coordinating with the Communications team and other Hull programs to understand their design requirements and create materials to meet their needs.
- Ensures that all designs for the Agency meet brand guidelines and are consistent with other marketing materials
- Coordinates with the Communications Team and other Hull programs to produce videos to meet their communication needs.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with 3 to 5 years of related communications and design experience is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including writing, editing, and proof-reading skills.
- Proficiency with graphic design and video editing software including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premier Pro.
- Experience creating and overseeing content on a website built in WordPress.
- Ability to manage direction and input from supervisor and various stakeholders.
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work well in teams.
- A flexible, proactive self-starter.
- Proven knowledge of communications and marketing ethics and best practices.
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
- Clear Police Information Check (including Vulnerable Sector Check) and Intervention Record Check.
- Cross-cultural competence; knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the recommendations, goals, and activities of the commission.
- Experience working in the social services non-profit sector considered an asset.
**Working conditions**:
- Based on a 40-hour work week role.
- Preparedness to work outside of regular work hours and days to facilitate meetings, events and functions.
