**In a nutshell for this role**:
1) Experience & skills in educating, teaching, mentoring, facilitating engaging content and life skills to youth.

2) Background in either or both 1) hands-on / creative learning modalities, as well as 2) outdoor education with specific adventure skills (wilderness survival skills, map and compass/orienteering/geocaching, canoeing, kayaking, rock-climbing, camp-craft, knots and ropes, ecology, first aid, etc).

2) You are BOTH organized and detailed-oriented AND possess excellent teamwork, communication, social and interpersonal skills,

3) Overall, you are a good listener, enthusiastic, engaging, outgoing, relational and youth/client focussed.

**LOCATION OF WORK**:This summer, most of the programs take place in and around Chilliwack. Come the Fall, some programs may take place at our Adventure-Learning Centre in Maple Ridge as well as other event venues, parks and locations in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. Having a car is preferable.

**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**: You will be leading / instructing / facilitating highly dynamic outdoor group experiences, activities and events for youth aged 11-14yrs. You will need to communicate effectively with youth, school contacts, and
with parents regarding camp activities and child progress. You will need to
manage camp logistics, including scheduling, supplies, and equipment. Exact responsibilities of your role will depend on group needs combined with your experience and skills. We will be providing training opportunities to ensure optimal success in this role. We are a growing company and additional opportunities may continue into the future.

**PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Relevant experience, background, work history & education, ie. teaching certificate, professional mentor/youth counselor, outdoor educator.
- Experience designing/planning and delivering engaging programs for youth.
- Experience working with / mentoring / teaching / facilitating youth aged 11-14yrs.
- Specialized skills in the following areas (and/or willing to learn): hands-on creative modalities (TBD), team-building games / group dynamics, archery, orienteering, canoeing, rock climbing, camp-craft skills, knots & ropes, map & compass/navigations, and/or other outdoor instructional knowledge and skills
- Current First Aid and CPR “C” (preferably WFA, WFR or OFA Level 2 or higher)
- Safety minded: awareness & knowledge of program risk-management and assessment
- The skills and ability to problem solve and exercise good judgment, take initiative, as well as maintain tact and composure in stressful situations
- Experience in group management, facilitation and team-building dynamics
- Strong leadership and organizational skills as well as clear communication, positive
