COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

We are currently seeking a _**Communications Assistant**_ to join our team. Reporting directly to the Clerk, the Communications Assistant is responsible for supporting the Communications Coordinator in the development and implementation of communication materials that promote the programs and services offered by the Municipality of Mississippi Mills including but not limited to marketing initiatives of the Municipality, including content development, social media management, graphic design, event coverage, and supporting a wide range of communication services.

This position is permanent part-time $25.51 to $31.37 per hour (16-20 hrs per week)

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma; post-secondary diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design or related discipline.
- A minimum of one to three (3) years’ communication-related experience, preferably in a municipal or government setting.
- Previous experience producing creative and engaging content, demonstrating an ability to utilize graphic design capabilities.
- Ability to operate digital equipment (SLR camera, video) and successfully utilize multiple social media platforms and analytic tools
- Must have a sound working knowledge of computers, particularly with MS Word and Professional Office Suite; as well as familiarity with digital technologies (e.g. digital marketing, social media, etc.).
- Strong understanding of best practices for compelling social media content, influencer engagement, content campaigns with general understanding of the operation of local government.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Pleasant, efficient manner dealing with public, both in person and on the phone.
- Demonstrate flexibility and organizational skills, with ability to multi-task, to meet established deadlines in a dynamic work environment
