S. Burnett & Associates Limited (SBA) is an established engineering and environmental consulting firm that has built a reputation for delivering strong project management and consultation services for Municipal, First Nation, and Private Sector clients. SBA is currently looking for a talented individual to join our growing team as a **Construction Specifications Writer**. This role will provide the opportunity to work with a team of professionals who contribute to meaningful projects for communities across Ontario. You will collaborate with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds and have the opportunity to work closely with clients to achieve long-term project successes.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in civil engineering, construction engineering, or other relevant discipline and professional experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in construction specification administration/management.
- In-depth knowledge of Ontario design and technical specifications, standards, and guidelines (i.e. OPS/CCDC/NMS).
- Knowledge of principles and theories in engineering materials and construction.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Time management and organizational skills, and self-initiative to meet project deadlines and budgets.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite Programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat (PDF).

**Responsibilities**:

- Interpret architectural and engineering plans, develop specifications and material lists to be used as standards by contractors and subcontractors during construction activities.
- Write technical descriptions specifying material quantities and properties.
- Provide construction tender specifications to the contract administration team for a variety of projects including: water/wastewater treatment process upgrades, water and sewer installation, road construction, as well as institutional, commercial, and public building construction.
- Verifying the accuracy of construction work based on engineering drawings and specifications.
- Updating and developing tender and contract specification documents for civil infrastructure and building projects, utilizing OPS and CCDC formats.
- Meeting project deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering and coordinating requirements with contributors.
