St. Albert Public Schools is currently recruiting a **Part Time, Probationary, Speech Language Pathologist Assistant **for a work assignment with our** Preschool **.

More than 9000 students are enrolled in St. Albert Public Schools. From Preschool to Grade 12, our students learn and succeed in programs that are recognized for excellence and their focus on citizenship and sound values. As a precondition of employment, all potential new hires will be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (all recommended doses of a vaccine approved by Health Canada and recommended by Alberta Health Services). Exceptions will only be considered upon proof of a medical condition, or other protected ground under the Alberta Human Rights Act.

**Hours of Work**:18 hrs /week; (2 days 6.0 hrs/ day and 2 days 3.0 hrs per morning); Tuesday-Friday; Part Time, Probationary

**Hourly Rate**:$24.59 per hour, as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.

**Start Date**:Tuesday,** **August 29, 2023

**Specific Needs/Requirements for this position**:

- Speech Language Pathologist Assistant certificate is required
- Knowledge and experience of preschool and school aged language delays and disorders, as well as intervention strategies
- Minimum of 1 year of working experience with children, including working with children with diverse needs
- Sound clinical judgement, problem solving and decision-making in combination with sound analytical abilities are essential
- Experience using and creating visual tools, activities and materials to facilitate learning
- Experience working with students with complex communication needs preferred
- Ability to collect and compile data to document student’s performance and progress toward meeting established treatment objectives
- Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication considered an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to respond to direction and openness in reviewing work
- Ability to work cooperatively and as part of a team, and proven ability to work independently
