**Position Summary**
Do you love planning ensuring that everyone who visits Parkwood has the best experience possible? Reporting to the Grounds Supervisor, this individual will be responsible for managing the Display and Production Greenhouses. Working with volunteers in growing, care and maintenance of Parkwood’s Tropical and Orchid collection
In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a program to ensure this directive is met. This position entails moderate physical exertion in walking, standing, bending, lifting, climbing, moving or caring of equipment and supplies.
**Duties**
- Together with the Grounds Supervisor, discuss plant growing activities/space allocation to plan for growing activities that are consistent with planned production schedules
- Designing the annual beds, which includes determining the type and amounts of annuals required, ordering the plugs and plants
- Responsible for planting all garden beds, along with support from grounds staff
- Support the Greenhouse Supervisor (when necessary) with planning work schedules for volunteers and summer students
- Support, engage and facilitate relationships with volunteers, students and other groups (as necessary)
- Monitor budget expenditures and prioritize spending
- Manage complaints and/or challenges as they relate to the greenhouses
- Give direction to outside contractors, when necessary
- Prepare monthly reports on greenhouse and planting activities
- Diagnosis and treatment all pest or disease problems on estate plant material, and greenhouse plants
- Monitor crop development and the removal of substandard plants to maintain quality standards.
- Monitors growing conditions and oversees changes in humidity, moisture and temperature and cultivation procedures to ensure conformance with quality control standards.
- Monitors plant development to ascertain conditions such as leaf texture, bloom size and the existence of pests or disease; removing substandard or diseased plants to maintain quality standards.
- Determines rates of fertilizers, pesticides and fungicides as required by the crops and
- Maintains inventory of needed growing supplies such as fertilizers, pesticides, and fungicides.
- Maintains records of growing techniques and production; reviews what grew well during spring/ summer/fall season.
- Develop and facilitate workshops/programs throughout the year.
- Maintains a current knowledge of growing techniques and technologies.
- Assists the Grounds Supervisor with other duties as assigned.

**Job Qualifications**
- 2+ years of landscaping experience
- Post-secondary education in Horticulture, Landscape Design
- Flexible schedule

**Salary**: $38,000.00-$42,000.00 per year
