DSBN students are at the heart of everything we do.
The successful applicant to this position will assist in the extension of the instructional process from the school’s Food Services area through the performance of a variety of duties such as assisting students to prepare, cook and serve meals, maintain supplies of food and other materials for use in the foods preparation course as well as keeping a high standard of cleanliness in the foods preparation area. The work involves the control and handling of all cash receipts from the sale of meals.

A requirement of this position is to ensure that all equipment and utensils are properly cleaned and stored after each class and seeing to the general cleanup of the cafeteria at the end of each school day. Assistance to the Teacher-Chef in the preparation of food for special banquets and luncheons is also a requirement.

**Skills, Qualifications and Education Requirements**

Applicants must have Grade 12 education including/or supplemented by courses in quantity cooking, as well as 1 to 2 years’ experience in commercial or institutional food preparation and service, as well as an ability to handle contacts with tact and courtesy. Baking experience is required, as is demonstrated experience working with at-risk students. Demonstrated knowledge of sanitation procedures and safe food handling are required, as is the ability to work effectively with students.
