As our Accounting Manager**, you will oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, **ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective management of the accounting team.
**Position Overview**:
**_ Financial Reporting_**
- **Prepare and consolidate month and year-end financial statements** for all combined companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare quarterly Results of Operations materials.
- **Support the preparation of the quarterly MD&A report.**:
- Oversee month and year-end closing processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financial data is accurate.
- Review and approve monthly **Work in Progress schedules** to ensure **accurate tracking of project costs** and revenues before submitting for final approval.
- **Analyze financial statements** to identify cost variances, trends, and financial performance metrics.
- Perform and review general ledger account analysis and reconciliation, addressing discrepancies in a prompt manner.
**_ Compliance_**
- Act as a liaison with **external auditors, facilitating audits and ensuring timely resolution** of issues or information requests.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Ensure company-wide **compliance with PST/GST and state tax legislation.**:
- Manage tax audits and clearances, collaborating with tax authorities and external consultants when needed.
**_ Cash Management and Budgeting_**
- Effectively **manage both AR and AP cash flows**, perform **weekly cash forecasts** for cheque runs, and follow up on aged receivables to ensure timely payments.
- Assist in the **preparation of the annual budget**, providing financial insights and variance analysis.
- Support the Director, Finance and CFO in strategic decision-making by providing financial analysis, forecasts, and recommendations.
**_ Performance Management_**
- **Hire, train, develop and empower accounting staff,** fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
- Assign tasks, monitor team performance, and provide ongoing training and development.
- Ensure timely and accurate **completion of financial tasks and reporting.**
**_ Qualifications Needed:_**
- **Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.**:
- Must be enrolled and in final stages of CPA program.
- **8+ years of relevant progressive accounting experience**, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong background in **construction accounting, including knowledge of job costing, revenue recognition, and project accounting.**:
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Sage 300 CRE or CMiC preferred).
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent **leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.**:
- May be required to work extended hours at month, quarter, and year-ends.
