**Position Summary**:
The Michener Institute is looking to hire a Lead, Network & Systems Lead, Network and Systems to be hands on and oversee a number business critical networking and system projects by working with third-party teams, setting up and configuring network infrastructure components and systems, and preparing detailed work plans for implementation.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Network Engineering and Director, Digital Solutions the Lead, Network & Systems will focus a number of key projects to upgrade our core network infrastructure, redesign our active directory setup, and oversee the rollout a modernized implementation of mobile device management, and endpoint management. The Lead will engage the Michener network team, the UHN Digital Team, and our third-party vendor partners to plan and execute on these key initiatives. The Lead will also act as a backup to the network operations team as needed during major incidents, resource shortage, or complex operational upgrades.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead and manage the initiatives outlined on the networking and security technology roadmap, by identifying capacity and capability requirements, procuring third party services, and performing vendor management to execute on initiatives to stabilize and modernize Michener’s IT infrastructure and networking environment.
- Formulate, document, and implement repeatable processes to transition network and systems projects to the Michener operations team
- Collaboration with UHN Digital teams to find synergies across the platforms.
- Secure Michener’s environment through firewall configurations, VPN connections, and robust security measures and toolsets
- Manages relationships with vendors and external technical support providers.
- Participate in the review, update, and align Michener’s IT policies to UHN’s IT policies as it pertains to networking and systems
- Prepare and deliver presentations to the executive team, and key stakeholders, effectively communicating strategic concepts and initiatives.
- Evaluate new strategic initiatives by designing and developing detailed business cases and lead the evaluation, scoping, and writing of business cases.
- Identify and evaluate potential technology vendors, conducting thorough assessments to determine their suitability for the organization's needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, legal, and procurement, to establish selection criteria and evaluate vendor proposals.
- Lead contract negotiations with technology vendors, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that align with the organization's requirements.
- Assess the current state of Michener’s network and systems environment to understand the school’s technology business requirements and propose a future state for the network and systems architecture, setup, and configuration.
- Monitors and manages IT backbone infrastructure including, but not limited to DNS, DHCP, engine-based Antivirus, LAN/WAN, and corporate SAN.
- Monitors, maintains and upgrades virtual servers within VMWare.
- Monitors, tests, and troubleshoots backup systems; supports disaster recovery planning & operations; Experience with Altaro an asset.
- Supports and coordinates network security measures and protocols in order to ensure systems and data are protected and secure.
- Supports services for Microsoft related technologies such as Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory (on-prem and Azure AD) and Exchange Server.
- When needed support the network and systems team with resolving major incidents in collaboration with the Sr. Network Administrator.

**Position Qualifications**:

- 5-7 years of experience leading or managing a team of professional IT resources
- 5+ years’ experience working with and/or managing an IT infrastructure where you have administered a network.
- 8+ years of experience where you have demonstrated administration of network, infrastructure, and system administration.
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams or projects and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders.
