Position Summary
The Rehabilitation Assistant is responsible for implementing occupational therapy and physiotherapy interventions with inpatients in one or more clinical programs under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist. This involves both direct patient care and non-patient care.
**Qualifications**:
- Graduate of a recognized Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant educational program is required.
- Previous experience in an Occupational TherapyPLS Department, Physiotherapy Department or a Rehabilitation setting an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously in a demanding environment demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication and superior interpersonal skills, an excellent attendance records.
- Demonstrated ability to function collaboratively and effectively within an interdisciplinary team and with the community partners.
- Demonstrated sound clinical judgment, flexibility and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and other professionals.
- Demonstrated superior organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated awareness of community supports and services for identified populations would be an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical competence within a patient focused care structure.
- Demonstrated knowledge of equipment e.g. wheelchair supplies and seating equipment etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the rehabilitation approach to patient care and the roles of Occupational and Physical Therapy.
