Our park patrollers are the feet on the ground in our picnic area and trails within the Buntzen Lake Public Use Management Area. They make sure the public can enjoy themselves in a safe, family friendly environment. They keep our public areas looking great and are a vital link in the Buntzen Team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Patrolling the picnic area, beach, and trails to ensure the safety of the public
- Picking up litter and debris throughout the picnic area and trails
- Communicating the area rules and regulations to the public to gain compliance
- Cleaning washrooms, picnic tables, garbage bins, and performing other maintenance tasks
- Keeping written record of maintenance tasks, inspections, and daily task lists
- Communicating closely with aquatic safety patrol and lifeguards to ensure water safety
- Driving & maintaining a Ford F-150 work truck as well as driving and maintaining a 60hp Boston Whaler patrol boat
- Perform landscaping duties such as weed whacking, pruning, and leaf blowing

**Applicant Requirements**:

- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to maintain a friendly demeanor during public interactions
- Mature, professional attitude and ability to take instructions
- Will work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Self-motivated and able to stay on task when not directly supervised
- Good physical fitness; can walk or stand for prolonged periods of time and lift heavy objects
- Available to work 8-hour shifts between 7am - 10pm, and work over-time in emergency situations
- Capable of swimming to safety in unlikely event of water immersion
- Valid class 5 BC driver’s license with clean drivers abstract
- WHMIS qualification is required if hired
- Steel toed boots are required if hired

**Preference will be given to applicants who are**:

- Experienced in customer service/working with the public
- Qualified or experienced in first aid/emergency response
- Experienced in landscaping and/or vegetation maintenance
- Experienced in rule communication, conflict resolution, or violence prevention

**Schedule**:This is a seasonal position.

Training / part-time: May 1 - May 12: 8-16 hrs / wk

Summer Schedule: May 15 - Sep 4: 32-40 hrs / wk

On-call, and additional hours are often available over the summer and sometimes into the fall.

All applicants must be available to work May 1-12 and all weekends from May 15 - September 4.

This position will be given first consideration for employment in the winter based on performance & shift availability
