**Community Engagement Officer**

Ronald McDonald House Charities® Alberta (RMHCA) is passionate about providing a home away from home for families with seriously ill or injured children who must travel for medical care.

We know that a family with a sick child is a sick family. Our Ronald McDonald Houses provide a warm, compassionate and comfortable environment where families can share experiences, receive respite and distraction, eat a warm homemade meal and rest, all while caring for their child at the hospital next door.

RMHCA is part of a global network of Houses, Family Rooms, Care Mobiles and Comfort Carts prioritizing family-centered care through delivery of our unique core programs. RMHCA operates four Houses offering 87 private family suites, and three Comfort Carts that deliver bedside services in hospital.

We’re currently engaged in a multi-year, $80M capital campaign to reduce the service gap by tripling our capacity in Calgary and Edmonton. Construction on an expanded facility in Calgary is currently underway and scheduled for completion in 2025.

**Your Role**

You will be actively involved in the community, including working evenings and weekends to support local events and fundraising efforts. You will recognize the impact of a donor-focused approach and will excel in enriching long-term relationships, finding joy in active involvement within the community, networking, and participating in face-to-face presentations and meetings.

In this role you will solicit sponsorship, philanthropic donations and build relationships with prospects, donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders. You will work in collaboration with the Development team across Alberta to ensure the organization’s financial goals are met.

This is a full time hybrid position, based out of Medicine Hat or Lethbridge. This position requires travel to Ronald McDonald Houses and applicable events in Alberta. Some evening and weekend work will be required.

**Your Key Responsibilities**

Sponsorship and Donations
- Initiate contact with potential donors and event sponsors
- Identify and build prospect lists and actively manage and grow a donor portfolio
- Present opportunities to potential prospects and donors
- Oversee and implement cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts

Community Initiatives
- Collaborate with Community Partnership Officer to prospect and secure new Community Events
- Collaborate with all team members for cultivation and stewardship of key stakeholder relationships
- Assist with correspondence regarding event compliance, expenses/invoicing
- Attend third-party events as an ambassador of RMHC Alberta
- Identify and facilitate participation at community events

Relationship Building
- Prepare and deliver high-quality proposals, presentations and other communications materials to current and prospective donors/sponsors
- Establish and maintain professional and productive relationships with key team members, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and other stakeholders
- Maintain accurate database records, actions, and reports (Raiser’s Edge)

**Required Qualifications**
- Post Secondary Diploma in a related field
- 3+ years of experience in event or donor management and/or customer service
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices and principles
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and respond to a high volume of ongoing requests in a fast-paced environment
- Project management and client-management skills
- Proven history of building and maintaining external and internal relationships
- Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, networking, public speaking, and facilitating presentations
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License, with clean abstract
- Must provide a clear criminal record check including a vulnerable persons check

**Nice to Haves**
- Experience using Raiser’s Edge NXT is an asset
- AGLC knowledge an asset
