This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join the Extensive Needs program (0.6FTE) and the Neurodevelopmental Feeding Assessment and Treatment clinic (0.4FTE).
The Extensive Needs Service is a new program for individuals up to the age of 18, whose needs cannot be met in a single service stream and who require an integrated approach across Mental, Behavioural and Developmental Health. While this is primarily a clinical role, there will be opportunity to work with other members of an interprofessional team to develop and implement the clinical psychology role based on best practices and evidence. To promote an equitable and accessible treatment model for clients and their families, services will be provided in a variety of locations including Holland Bloorview main campus, satellite clinics across the GTA and the client’s home and/or school. Travel between sites may be required in this position.
The Neurodevelopmental Disorders Feeding Assessment and Treatment clinic is a new program within Holland Bloorview’s Feeding Service that will support the needs children with neurodevelopmental disorders that also present with ARFID and/or severe restricted food intake. The clinic is an interdisciplinary clinic, collaborating with a number of different clinicians to assess and make appropriate recommendations. The incumbent will be part of the implementation of the new program, in building capacity in the community and in providing assessment and treatment.
**Responsibilities**:
- The psychologist offers a complete range of psychological services including assessment, intervention/psychotherapy (i.e., individual, group, and parent-mediated), consultation, education, training, and team support.
- Work with clinicians from other disciplines who have complimentary or overlapping skill sets. This provides an environment for collaborative and interdisciplinary work that may not be possible in other settings. Opportunities may include:
- Collaborative development of a behaviour support plan with a board certified behaviour analyst (BCBA);
- Family assessment and/or intervention in collaboration with social workers;
- Provide consultation to community agencies and other health care professionals
- Feeding assessments and treatments in collaboration with multi-disciplinary team
- Conducts assessments with children and youth to inform diagnostic clarification, formulation, and treatment planning as a member of an inter-disciplinary team.
- Employs a variety of individual, group, and parent-mediated therapies that involve modifications for children and youth with a range of neurodevelopmental disabilities, as well as their caregivers and family.
- Provides education and training sessions to interdisciplinary team as appropriate/requested.
- Supervises psychology interns.
- Engages in program development for Extensive Needs and the Neurodevelopmental Feeding service.
- Supports program evaluation and ongoing service improvement.
- Flexibility to work across other programs as needed
**Qualifications**:
- PhD in Psychology and registration (or eligible for registration) with the College of Psychologists of Ontario required, with declared competencies in Clinical Psychology with children and adolescents. Declared competency with families would be an asset.
- Knowledge and experience in providing assessment, treatment, and diagnosis services for children with, complex behavioural and emotional difficulties, and their families.
- Knowledge and experience in providing intervention to groups of children and parents in the management of social-emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Experience with adapting interventions to the complex needs of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
- Knowledge and experience of trauma-informed interventions (or willingness to obtain training in these interventions).
- Strong clinical formulation skills and implements individualized treatment plans based on assessed needs in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.
