**PLSC PDF GENOMICS OF FORAGE LEGUMES**:
**Primary Purpose**: The goals of these PDF positions are to: 1) understand genetic diversity and structure of global collection of Red Clover to initiate a robust breeding strategy to improve seed yield, biological N fixation and disease resistance. 2) Uncover genomic basis of salt tolerance in alfalfa. Specific goals include: a) characterize large collections of germplasm using genomic tools and precision phenotyping platform (i.e. UAV). b) Assess genetic diversity to identify populations with unique genetic structure. c) Discover/develop molecular markers for salt tolerant plant selection. d) Use genomic selection to improve traits of interest. Work will be carried out through the Crop Development Centre/Livestock Forage Center of Excellence at the University of Saskatchewan.

**Education**: A PhD degree in plant science, bioinformatics or related discipline within the last 5 years, preferably with experience in plant breeding and bioinformatic analysis.

**Licenses**: Eligible to obtain a Saskatchewan driver’s license.

**Skills**: Demonstrated ability to create and foster relationships with people of diverse backgrounds and education levels. Demonstrated ability to present research results to seed growers and industry audiences.
