**About Al Huda Elementary School (AHES)**: AHES is a non-profit, Islamic private school established in Mississauga, ON in 2008. We offer a fully integrated educational program from Casa to Grade 8, combining authentic, faith-based knowledge and values with the Ontario Elementary Curriculum under the supervision of an experienced leadership team. In addition, AHES features an annual, faith-based Summer Camp that provides an exciting and enriching summer program for children in our local community through creative and fun activities within a safe school campus environment.
- **About the role**:We are looking for enthusiastic Summer Camp Counsellors who are interested in making a lasting impact in the lives of children (ages 5-12 years) in our community within an exciting, fun and safe summer camp setting. As part of the Summer Camp team, the Summer Camp Counsellor will plan, develop and prepare quality program sessions and activities (indoor and outdoor) based on the program's outline & structure for K-Gr 8 students, using resources of the school campus.

**Roles & Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for a group of children as assigned
- Ensures the safety of campers at all times following facility rules and safety protocols
- Plans and organizes engaging indoor and outdoor daily activities for campers
- Leads and supervises summer campers in all aspects of the day as required, including class instruction, activities, mealtimes, field trips etc.
- Models constructive participation and encourages teamwork among campers
- Communicates and engages with campers, parents/guardians, and fellow Camp Counsellors in a friendly and effective manner
- Demonstrates and supervises the proper use of facility equipment by campers
- Provides individual counsel and support to campers as per need
- Monitors each camper’s individual development and behaviour
- Participates in all camp staff training and leadership sessions
- Facilitates the Camp Coordinator in running an effective and smooth summer camp

**Skills & Experience**:

- Experience or education in working with children is preferred
- Energetic, enthusiastic and motivated to work with children
- Ability to demonstrate responsible, ethical and professional conduct
- Ability to create a safe and inclusive environment for campers of all backgrounds
- Ability to participate in physical activities and sports and interested in supporting campers in their daily activities throughout the day
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Creativity and problem-solving skills

**Eligibility**:

- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
