Your challenge- Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for driving the transition to a Lean cultural transformation at the site, ensuring commitment of all site pillar leads, plant leadership and employees. He is also responsible for guiding the execution of Continuous Improvement initiative to support business objectives.- This role is fundamental in supporting and leading implementation, improvement project, and loss elimination initiatives across the site to improve the quality of our products and services. Success is measured by the ability to actively engage the team to achieve tangible results and to educate team members in waste elimination and Continuous Improvement (CI) using Lean Principles.- Individual responsibilities- Responsible for maintaining the foundation of continuous improvement program for the plant by ensuring the effective functioning and alignment of Lean Production System Pillars
- Collaborate with site management team to identify and define the scope/financial justification of continuous improvement opportunities and provide support for product development
- Develop action plans and ensure that activities are aligned with the plants strategic business objectives
- Develop plant costs reduction opportunities through the delivery and execution of continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide expertise in the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools, ensuring that the tools are used appropriately
- Teach Lean tools to all levels of the plant (Kaizen, 5S, TPM, Set-up reduction, Standard Work, Visual Management, SQDC boards, MDI, etc.)
- Assume the role of consultant, participant, and/ or lead CI activities to reduce planned downtime, remove bottlenecks and improve cleaning time through standardization
- Ensure pre-CI activity training, preparation for activities, development and implementation of a communication plan, post activity follow-up and auditing of results, maintain overall program tracking for impact and improvements opportunities
- Oversee and support Quality Control activities (quality of raw materials and finished products, non-conformities, quality of the programs in place) to enforce quality standards in accordance with established programs systems (ISO 9001, BRCGS, AIB, SQF, etc)
- Support the Quality Coordinator and operations to resolve technical roadblocks using analysis techniques and problem-solving skills
- Responsible for the ONE-Certification program and procedure updates where applicable
- Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPI) by utilizing Lean Principles to analyze systems and create action plans to improve them
- Analyze reporting and communication of departmental key metrics related to continuous improvements
- Monitor progress of LPS initiatives at the plant and with other units
- Support Line Centric Team (LCT) members on processes and guidelines related to continuous improvement and operational efficiency, members
- Provide continuous coaching, leadership and support to LCT
- Sharing of best practices with group pillar leads to drive results and development consistency.
- Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement and assure buy-in and ownership at all levels.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Experiences and strengths- Bachelor's/College Diploma in engineering or operations management or other relevant fields
- Two or more years of experience in plant leadership, with at least 1 year in a position responsible for driving Lean manufacturing initiatives and Quality Program
- Strong change management skills and demonstrated experience changing a culture to a Lean environment
- Leadership and expertise in promoting buy-in to proposed solutions
- Strong Influential Management Skills and Experience successfully leading, coaching and directing employees who are not direct reports.
- Experience in implementation of Lean principals, experience in participation or leading CI Activities.
- Proven success designing, implementing, communicating, and meeting policy deployment goals, including improving through-put, shortening cycle time, improving inventory turns and reducing supply chain costs.
- Broad, cross-functional knowledge (e.g., operations, maintenance, quality)
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
