Arrowsmith Health Care Society (AHCS) has operated in Parksville since 1969 - Arrowsmith Lodge (75 bed, long-term care) and Cokely Manor (30 room, assisted living residences). The Society is a licensed, private, not-for-profit organization which is affiliated with the Vancouver Island Health Authority which approves seniors for admission and access to subsidized long-term care and assisted living.

The AHCS has a long history of providing excellence in care to seniors in Oceanside and is actively engaged in improving and expanding services to seniors in our community. Currently we provide approximately 400 meals per week to the Meals On Wheels program and provide respite care to approximately 150 seniors through the Adult Day Program (another 40+ are waitlisted).

**Position: Part-Time Permanent 3 days per week Non-Contract (Management)**

**SUMMARY OF POSITION**:
Reporting to the Director of Care, the Care Manager is a leader who has a passion for providing excellence in care and strives to oversee the day-to-day care to coordinate the delivery all health services to residents.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Include but not limited to:

- Share leadership responsibilities of the Care Department with the DOC, organizing and supervising staff in the provision of care, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and providing excellent customer service to residents and their families
- Staff supervision including ongoing coaching, training, scheduling, performance monitoring, and taking corrective action as needed
- Ensure that infection prevention practices are in place and that quality assurance activities are performed as required
- Promote positive relationships within the department and the Home, and with physicians
- In the absence of the Director of Care, the Care Manager will act in the capacity of the DOC
- Assists the Director of Care with hiring, supervising and disciplining assigned staff. Ensures that staff receive proper orientation, in-service education and on the job training.
- Investigates the job injuries, accidents and critical incident reports and ensures that required forms/submissions are completed according to established procedures.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
1. Current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as an RN, a degree in nursing and progressive nursing experience and education, in which leadership and administrative skills have been demonstrated. LPN’s who have a proven track record of leadership in a long-term care setting are also encouraged to apply.

2. Minimum of three years’ work experience in management

3.. 2-3 years experience - preferably in a long-term care or retirement setting. Previous supervisory experience preferred

4. All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.

5. As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Arrowsmith Lodge must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
