The director is responsible for the day-to-day running of the childcare centre, including operations, administration, programming, and staffing.

**Main Responsibilities**

The centre director is responsible for the following tasks:
Operations:

- Ensures centre compliance with all pertinent provincial regulations, including the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education Childcare Regulations, Childcare Act, and public health regulations, etc.
- Procures all needed materials and supplies, including food, furniture, toys and educational material, cleaning supplies, first aid supplies, play equipment, etc.
- Ensures that the centre operates according to its internal policies and procedures.
- Maintains accurate records of the centre’s activities and operations.
- Collaborates with the cook to set the weekly menus in accordance with Ministry of Education Childcare Regulations.

Administration:

- Maintains accurate records for children in care, including registration, attendance, and all documentation required by the Ministry of Education.
- Maintains accurate financial record.
- Administers payroll.
- Works with the board of directors to prepare the centre’s operating budget.
- Administers the centre’s accounts, including invoice processing and cheque preparation.
- Maintains an accurate and up-to-date list of parent contacts; communicates with parents as required.

Programming:

- Plans and ensures the provision of a developmentally appropriate childcare program that aligns with best practices, such as the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education _Play and Exploration Early Learning Program Guide_.
- Sets a daily schedule for children.
- Plans and ensures the provision of a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment for all children.
- Works with educators to appropriately address any behavioral or other issues with children in accordance with centre policy and childcare regulations.

Staffing:

- Works with the board of directors to seek and hire qualified staff as needed; administers the hiring process and other HR matters.
- Sets and manages the work schedules of educators and other staff (cook, admin. assistant, etc.)
- Supervises staff, guides staff in adherence centre policies and procedures.
- Conducts staff evaluations.
- Conducts regular staff meetings.
- Plans for professional development opportunities for staff.

**Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Comprehensive understanding of child development and early childhood education principles and practices.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, time management capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with parents, staff, and children.

**Required Education and Experience**
- Possession of an Early Childhood Education Level III Certificate or equivalent recognized by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education Early Years, or actively pursuing this certification.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in early childhood education.
- Proficient in French; English is an asset.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Successful completion of vulnerable sector Criminal Record check.

**Work Environment**
- Time is spent in the daycare facility divided between desk work and supervision of staff.
- Must be able to take on classroom duties.
- Must be willing to spend long hours standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting (no more than 30 pounds).

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
