**Employment Opportunity**

**Position Title: Stewardship Apprentice**

**Position Location: Chilliwack, BC**

**Salary Range: Level 3 $19.96- $27.02/hr Dependent on experience and education**

**Hours: 8:00am - 3:30pm Monday to Friday, with half hour unpaid lunch.**

**Position Overview**

In this role, you will apprentice under the Land Stewardship team while restoring habitats, protecting species-at-risk, managing invasive species, and remediating contaminated sites. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with multiple agencies and participate in a wide range of progressive initiatives while gaining hands-on experience in environmental stewardship to grow your future career opportunities.

**Responsibilities and Duties**:
As an apprentice you may be involved in a range of programs including, but not limited to:

- Wildlife & vegetation identification, surveys, and salvage.
- Habitat feature surveys, data entry, and mapping.
- Water quality and quantity monitoring.
- Planning and permitting for aquatic and riparian restoration.
- Fish hatchery support for tours, fin clipping, and juvenile release.
- Monitoring and stewardship in Traditional Territory.

Regular duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Planting trees/shrubs, removing invasive species, weeding restoration sites, raking trails, installing & cleaning bird houses, collecting litter, watering trees/shrubs etc.
- Assisting with coordinating and delivering filed trips and tours.
- Attending public outreach and community engagement events.
- Completing tracking sheets, reports, and keeping detailed records.
- Attending meetings, administrative duties, and other tasks as required.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**

A positive attitude and resilience are vital to be successful in this role.

Ability to take direction and perform duties independently is valued.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office software is preferred.

Respect and understanding of First Nations culture, traditions, and language is an asset.

Ability to prioritize safety in all tasks is encouraged.

**Working Conditions**:
Working partly indoors in a professional office atmosphere.

Working partly outdoors, including during inclement weather.

Working in hot, muddy, snowy, and uneven terrain.

Working for long periods lifting, carrying, digging, weeding, etc.

Working alone or in teams with community members, contractors, and volunteers.

**Terms of Employment**:
Employee signs a standard form contract of employment.
