**Who we are**: Tropicana Community Services, a Toronto-based multi-service organization, provides all youth, newcomers, people of Black and Caribbean heritage and others in need with opportunities and alternatives that lead to success and positive life choices. Our mission is achieved through culturally appropriate programs such as counselling, childcare, educational, and employment services and youth development.

**What you will do**:

- Assist with the timely and accurate distribution of food items in hampers to clients
- Assist with inventory of incoming food and clothing supplies
- Assist with maintaining necessary records of food & clothes distribution
- Assist with the correct labelling and food storage, especially that which need to be stored in the refrigerators and freezers, making note of expiration dates
- Assist with inventory management of office supplies including kitchen supplies
- Assist with the organizing and layout for clothing drive
- Maintain positive relationships with clients and donors
- Participate in safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments
- Ensure adherence to safe food handling practices, public health guidelines and WHMIS

**What you will need**:

- Experience working in social work, food services, or equivalent service settings
- Ability to adapt and multitask in a highly dynamic and changing environment
- Ability to lift 30 lbs
- Good communication skills
- Professionalism and a positive disposition with excellent interpersonal skills
- Compassionate for those homeless and disadvantaged
- Basic computer skills and knowledge in Microsoft and similar products
- Ability to work independently
- A commitment to providing excellent customer service

**To be qualified for this position under the Canada Summer Jobs Program, you must also**:

- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.

**International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.

**HOW TO APPLY**
