**JOB DESCRIPTION - EXPERIENCED EXCAVATOR OPERATOR**

Jake-Jay Construction Ltd. is a mid-sized, fully bonded, limited corporation with decades of experience in underground utility installation, road construction and earthworks.

**Our Opportunity**

We are seeking a highly experienced excavator operator to fill a seasonal full-time opening, with ongoing employment requiring remote work in the winter months. We offer competitive wages with opportunity for a comprehensive benefits package.

**Responsibilities**
- Report directly to Site Foreman.
- Participate and engage in daily Tailboard meetings, identify hazards, and assist in crew compliance to safety policies and regulations.
- Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company’s safe work procedures.
- Conduct equipment inspections and accurately complete daily logs of equipment maintenance.
- Perform safe excavations and trenching, accurately cut grade and load trucks.
- Ability to read and understand survey stakes.
- Required to fuel and grease equipment daily.
- Keep work area and equipment clean.
- Proactively communicate with site foreman and co-workers.
- Communicate using a radio in compliance with provincial radio protocols.
- Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation as required and in compliance with office standards.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Minimum 5 years heavy equipment operation experience with references required.
- Must hold a valid class 5 driver’s licence with the ability to operate company vehicles with no restrictions.
- Must be personable, able to work independently and as a team, and must possess strong communication skills.
- Experience using laser levels and reading site plans a must.
- Experience operating various machines from excavators to skid steers a must.

**Salary**: From $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 60 per week
