Bailiff Officer

Commercial Credit Adjusters Ltd. is a highly respected, industry leader in Accounts Receivable Management Services. As such, we are constantly growing and are excited to add a **Bailiff Officer** to our team

**Job Summary**: Reporting to the National Operations Manager, the Bailiff Officer will be responsible for the service of legal documents and repossessions in accordance with judgments and applicable legislation.

**Primary Responsibilities & Duties include**:

- Calculating, negotiating, preparing and issuing service documents in accordance with customer requirements and applicable legislation and include: Personal Property Securities Act, Executions Act, Distress Act and any sub legislation.
- Locate property and make seizures and removals under various acts.
- Compile data on account, code, enter and verify account information. Prepare comprehensive reports including financial breakdown.
- Recommend legal action or discontinuation of services in cases where payment is not forthcoming.
- May involve some collections activity over the phone.

**Education and Training**:
Preferred: Post-secondary education in legal studies and/or recognized training in negotiation.

Mandatory: High school diploma.

**Skill and Competency Requirements**:

- 1-2 years of prior experience as a Bailiff or experience within a collections environment.
- Strong understanding of cultural diversity with persuasive control in conflict situations.
- Crisis negotiation, ability to deal with difficult people.
- Strong ethical and professional work aptitude.
- Strong communication skills at a senior level.
- Demonstrated level of maturity and sound decision making skills. Exercise good judgement.

**Job Conditions**:

- Must possess a valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Must have flexible working hours. Hours are not set and job demands could require early morning/evening/weekend work.
- Ability to work independently or with mínimal supervision.
