**Shop Consultant**

**Flexible part-time, 20 - 26 hours per week, must be available to work weekends.**

**Hourly wage $18 - $21 depending on experience.**

Urban Gardener is a sweet little houseplant shop located in the Junction Triangle, and we specialize in selling tropical plants, cacti, cheery ceramic pots, and plant care products. We are approachable, knowledgeable, and pride ourselves on offering quality products, expert repotting services, and exceptional customer service. We’ve been in business for more than 9 years and we’re really nerdy about plants. If you have experience working in a retail or customer service environment, and are looking for a long-term, part-time position, maybe you’d like to work with us?

Please note that while a basic knowledge of houseplants is an asset, we are happy to share ours and train the right person — before long you’ll be a nerd like us It is more crucial to have solid retail/ sales experience, a strong work ethic, and (not to sound like my mom) a can-do attitude.

**Summary**:
The Shop Consultant is responsible for helping customers find the plants, pots & other products that are right for them, cleaning and organizing as needed, and helping with content and social media when asked. They should promote our values of community, learning, and quality in all aspects of their work.

**Primary responsibilities**:

- Front-of-store sales, focused on building relationships and repeat customers.
- Cleaning, organizing, and restocking shop shelves on a daily basis.
- Opening & closing duties.
- Support marketing campaigns & customer care best practices.
- Have a minimum of 2 years experience in retail, sales, or a customer service role.
- Be able to work in a fast-paced, sometimes chaotic environment.
- Show up to work on time for the shifts they’ve committed to working.
- Be comfortable with physical aspects of the role, like standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, taking short (paid) breaks at appropriate times.
- Be available to work most Saturdays and Sundays. Yes you can book the occasional weekend off if your sibling is getting married, etc. but please DO NOT APPLY if you can’t work both weekend days.
- Be a team player who is described by others as “easy to work with.”
- Be able to work independently, use common sense to solve problems, and learn from feedback.

**Additional assets that will put you to the top of the list**:

- A working knowledge of houseplants
- A knack for social media, especially making reels
- Flexibility in hours and shifts
- At least one glowing reference from a past manager

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
