**1.0 FTE (ends February 2024 with possibility for extension).**

**Position Summary**:
Under the supervision of the Housing and Supports Manager, the Housing Support Worker provides recovery-oriented services at two locations (Riverwood House - Addictions Recovery Program and Concordia Village IV - Mental Health Integrated Supportive Housing Program). A willingness to work between sites is required.

At Riverwood House, the Housing Support Worker works with participants on developing life skills (cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.) and provides 1:1 support to program participants. The HSW will complete regular room checks, develop grocery lists, and lead community meals throughout the week. The HSW will work in collaboration with the Riverwood House Navigators and Director to assist the participant to achieve their recovery goals.

At Concordia Village IV, the HSW works directly with 16 supportive housing participants. The day-to-day tasks involve life skill building (budgeting, cooking, cleaning, etc.) on an individual and/or group basis. The position also involves assisting participants with maintaining formal and informal support networks. The HSW will use Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Principles in carrying out their regular duties.

**Qualifications**:
**Education/Certification**:

- Post-secondary education in Human Services, Addictions and Community Service, Mental Health Certificate, Social Service Worker or other related disciplines, and/or equivalent experience required

**Experience**:

- Experience in mental health and/or addictions preferred

**Knowledge, Skills and Ability**:

- Interest and eagerness to work within a diverse team and serve a diverse population.
- Knowledge of mental illnesses/mental health issues and recovery.
- Knowledge of addictions and addictions recovery model.
- Knowledge of principles of trauma informed care and interest in working toward truth and reconciliation.
- Excellent time management, organizational and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and build effective relationships with colleagues on multiple teams and different environments.
- Experience in facilitating group learning and leisure activities.
- Demonstrated skills in establishing supportive, trusting relationships.
- Demonstrated flexibility and creativity.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Interest and eagerness to be engaged in a culture of learning (client specific training offered on case-by-case basis and regular commitment to training related to population needs (e.g., culture, trauma informed care, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) skills, etc.)).
- Flexibility in work location (opportunity to work within CV4 or Riverwood Location).
- Knowledge of harm reduction principles and asset.

- Valid Driver’s License

**Principal Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Program Participant Recovery Support**:

- Participation in Planning and Intervention with Program Participants:

- Reviews Recovery Plan and other documentation to understand participant needs.
- Provides information to the Housing and Supports Manager and/or Riverwood House Navigator while supporting an individual’s recovery needs including:

- Mental health issues/obstacles.
- Activities of daily living.
- Recovery & Rehabilitation.
- Potential Services/Supports required.
- Assists program participants to carry out recovery plans, create structure, and work towards their goals which will support their recovery journey.
- Provide Rehabilitation and Support Services to program participants:

- Intervenes and assists program participants with developing daily living skills.
- Assisting individuals to understand their tenancy responsibilities.
- Acts as liaison between tenant and landlord.
- Assists program participants to acquire skills including:

- Performing personal hygiene and grooming tasks.
- Performing household activities including organization, cleaning, laundry, meal planning and grocery shopping.
- Teaching money-management skills and assist individuals to access financial services.
- Providing side-by-side support and coaching to assist individuals to socialize.
- Structuring time and increasing social experience.
- Provides assistance under the supervision and direction of the Housing Manager regarding advocacy, referral, coordination and linking program participants to:

- Legal and advocacy services.
- Language and Immigration services.
- Financial Services.
- Transportation services.
- Appropriate services such as home care, mental health, addiction services, financial and educational services to facilitate cl
