About Us???

STEM Innovation Academy is a public charter school in Calgary that opened in September 2021. Our junior high school currently serves over 470 students in grades 7-9. In September 2022, our high school campus opened a NW location located in the University Innovation Quarter with 115 Grade 10’s; we have since grown and project 700 students in 2024-25 with a full-grown capacity of 1000 students. With a mission to inspire the next generation to be knowledgeable creators, innovators, and responsible leaders, we believe every student can be successful in STEM and should have the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge science, math, and technology topics.??Our staff and students thrive in a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.?We believe a deep understanding of critical thinking and communication skills found in the Social Studies program of studies are important for the future leaders we are developing.??

Position Information

High School Social Studies Team Lead

Education and Experience

Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education

Previous school department or system leadership experience is an asset.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

Experience, skill, knowledge and in depth understanding of Alberta Program of Studies for Social Studies, differentiated instruction, student engagement strategies, and assessment practices.

Exemplary, evidence-based instructional practices in Social Studies that lead to student success.

Strong ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.

Dedication to academic excellence and professionalism.

Ability to provide instructional leadership to Social Studies team that supports evidence informed teaching and learning.

Visionary leadership and innovative mindset in order to continue building culture of excellence.

Commitment to infusing technology into core curriculum where appropriate.

Willingness to adapt and grow in a constantly evolving environment.

Competent in using online learning support tools such as MS 365 for Education, Schoology, GradeCam, Edwin, etc.
