Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre is located in Midland Ontario and is managed by the Friends of Wye Marsh Inc., a not-for-profit charitable organization. The Centre is open 362 days a year and provides school and public programs for over 30,000 visitors annually. Friends of Wye Marsh Inc. is governed by both federal and provincial regulations for all activities and land use.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Conservation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing ecological stewardship projects at Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre, and for working with the Friends of Wye Marsh Inc. staff, volunteers and Stewardship Committee to fulfill the organization’s mandate to sustain and protect natural areas and critical habitats within Wye Marsh.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Stewardship
- Coordinate and lead projects for invasive species (Glossy Buckthorn and Phragmites) control and native species population baseline studies in accordance with the terms and conditions detailed in the respective contracts for both the federal and provincial portions of Wye Marsh;
- Supervise one summer staff member and volunteers as required, generate weekly schedules with detailed tasks and priorities, and review performance;
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors as required for each of the projects, and attend progress meetings as required;
- Draft and deliver in a timely manner project reports, budgets, and present to customers, senior management, and the Stewardship Committee;
- Identify potential projects, draft proposals and grant requests for funding.

Outreach
- Develop and deliver at least one public workshop a year with an emphasis on conservation and citizen science;
- Participate in the development and delivery of conservation-specific events (Earth Day, Global Big Day, etc.);
- Coordinate community participation in stewardship and public monitoring activities.

Team Development
- Attend regular staff meetings; report on activities to other team members, and work together to problem solve individual or group issues;
- Engage with other staff to develop positive, open, and effective team relationships;
- Liaise with other team members to ensure project goals are achieved;
- Develop, plan, and participate in Wye Marsh events as required.

**Qualifications**
- Education in a related program and/or work experience in a related field such as environmental science, biology or resource management, ideally in a not-for-profit organization.
- Budgeting and Project Management skills are required.

**Skills and Experience**
- Strong organizational skills;
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking and writing reports;
- Knowledge of field work principles, including accurate data recording, use of equipment, reports;
- Plant, fish, reptile and amphibian identification skills;
- Experience networking with professionals and agencies and engaging volunteers and the public;
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office.

**Other Requirements**
- Valid driver’s license, minimum G Class
- CPR / Standard First Aid Certified
- Canoeing and kayaking experience
- Police check, including vulnerable sector
- Bilingual (French / English) is an asset

**Salary**: $35,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
