**Position Summary**
Centennial College is immediately hiring an Emergency Management Consultant to develop and deliver on the College’s Emergency Management Framework, aligned with industry standards to advance the prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery of emergencies affecting the organization. Reporting to the Manager, Emergency Management and Public Safety, the incumbent will collaborate closely with key stakeholders at all levels and committees, to coordinate and establish solutions to support new and existing infrastructure and departmental emergency preparedness initiatives.

The incumbent will consult and guide on hazard identification, preventative and mitigation measures; contribute to business continuity planning; develop and implement training activities with the college community to raise awareness and enhance institutional emergency preparedness and resiliency.

**Responsibilities**
- Advise and guide on the coordination and implementation of emergency management plans and preparedness practices college-wide.
- Consult the college community on emergency management and business continuity planning.
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders (i.e., local Fire, Law Enforcement, EMS, Planning Groups, etc.), to develop collaborative emergency preparedness solutions.
- Takes a lead role in handling responses to all types of emergency incidents, to ensure appropriate decisions and actions are taken; acts as an Incident Manager or advisor on the college’s IMS (Incident Management System)
- Using industry standards, supports with the development of hazard identification and reporting.
- Supports and coordinates the college Emergency Management & Incident Command Committee.
- Provides on-call support (by cell phone) after hours for issues related to public safety, security to the College and /or with Security Supervisors or Operatives.
- Research and identify best practices to enhance community safety, readiness and resilience.
- Liaise with various internal stakeholders (i.e., Safety, Health & Wellness, Facilities, Marketing, Communications, IT, Schools/Departments, etc.) to establish and maintain the college’s Emergency Management Plan.
- Liaise with local police and law enforcement agencies to coordinate and maintain relationships.
- Ensure a fair, equitable and customer focused approach to the enforcement of policies, regulations, and resolution of service issues.
- Support Fire Safety Program for all campus locations; review Fire Safety Plans; implements and maintains individual evacuation plans for self-identifying individuals with disabilities; coordinate proactive Lockdown, Fire and other emergency drills; maintain accurate documents and records
- Develop, maintain and assist in training and awareness programs for public safety within the college community (i.e., Incident Management, Active Attacker, Emergency Awareness, Employee and Student Orientations, other related programming); may include social media and/or print media support for public observation

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Three (3) year Diploma or Degree in Emergency Management and/or related field (Law and Security, Business Continuity Planning, Public Administration); equivalent combination of education/training and work experience will be considered.
- Five (5) years related and progressive emergency management experience including: risk & disaster management, procedure & policy development, program delivery and incident response.
