**Reports To**

The Community Social Worker reports to and is under the direct supervision of the Band Manager.

**Job Overview**

This position will be dedicated to assisting off-reserve band members access services (e.g., housing, mental health and physical health, substance use programs, unemployment challenges, criminal matters) within the cities of Thunder Bay and Geraldton.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Work with clients and families in holistic approach;
- Build and maintain case management system;
- Follow up on client files;
- Maintain confidentiality;
- Show respect, patience, and empathy towards community members and the affiliated organizations;
- Commit to anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and equity-seeking practices;
- Keep an inventory of necessary community supplies;
- Build positive relationships within the community and with other service provider agencies;
- Show compassion, patience, and dedication to the work with community members and people in need;
- Report weekly to the Marten Falls First Nation Band Manager;
- Maintain and securely store reports of completed tasks to ensure an accountability;
- Inform community members of needs or eligibility for specific services;
- Solve and resolve minor conflict situations;
- An ability and willingness to travel;
- Other duties to related to accessing social services.

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Social Work, with a minimum of two years of successful work experience in the field;
- Experience working in a First Nation Organization and knowledge of Indigenous culture;
- Proficiency in Anishinaabemowin is an asset;
- Valid G driver’s license

**Compensation**
- Salary is competitive, and it is based on experience, education and is negotiable;
- $5000 annual gasoline allowance;
- Provided vehicle (van or equivalent).
