English Literacy Instructor

Responsibilities:

- Work with students aged 18+, both Canadian citizens and Manitoba newcomers, on their personal literacy/language goals
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the curriculum
- Teach English language skills including reading, writing, speaking, and listening
- Assess students' progress and provide feedback on their performance
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Utilize various teaching methods to engage students and promote active learning
- Provide individualized instruction and support to students with special needs or learning difficulties
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to plan and coordinate educational activities
- Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, grades, and progress

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field OR TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification
- Experience working with students in a classroom setting
- Knowledge of literacy education principles and practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and maintain appropriate classroom behaviour
- Experience in tutoring or providing additional support to students is a plus
- Specialized knowledge in areas such as deaf education, special education, visually impaired education, adult language education, or bilingual education is desirable
