The Meat Cutter acts as a consultant and assists the Meat and Seafood Manager with the daily operation of the department. They takes this role to ensure that departmental standards of high quality product, proper food safety, consistent cleanliness, thorough training, and efficient procedures are maintained.

**Job Description**:

- Actively support the Meat and Seafood Manager in the fulfillment of responsibilities (planning, organizing, directing and controlling activities and operations).- Ensure that high quality communication is maintained within the Meat and Seafood team.
- Ensure a high level of cleanliness and organization and food safety is maintained in the department.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of duties by following up with all checklists, prioritizing your daily work schedule and taking action on problems as they arise.
- Proactively address and find solutions for inefficient procedures, and think outside the box to create new efficiency measures.
- Take the lead on all departmental training to ensure that staff are knowledgeable about our products and are capable of performing assigned duties to departmental standards.
- Product:
- Be thoroughly familiar with all products carried in the department including being fully knowledgeable in the differences (in price, taste, preparation or use) between the many varieties and types of meat and seafood.
- Ensure the highest quality of product is displayed through observing proper receiving processes, monitoring the shelf-life, trimming, maintaining temperature records and properly rotating stock.
- Follow packaging and labeling standards and guidelines.
- Image:
- Ensure all displays are built and maintained for maximum sales and profits, minimum waste, are neat and colourful, include tie-in merchandise when applicable, and are properly signed. Be mindful of opportunities for new products and for impulse buying.
- Inventory Control:
- Assist in controlling inventory levels within established guidelines for the department to minimize over/under stocks, maximize sales and display the highest quality product.
- Take action to control shrinkage & pilferage losses.
- Actively participate in all inventory counts
- Ensure rotation, storage and use of products are properly maintained to ensure profitability and minimize waste.
- Adheres to all directions on product recalls, documentation and proper disposal in accordance with company policy and guidelines.
- Customer Relations:
- Greet customers and be alert and observant at all times
- Handle customer complaints in a prompt and courteous manner
- Cleanliness:
- Complies with the uniform and grooming policies
- Properly uses, sanitizes and maintains tools, equipment and personal protection equipment.
- Ensures the general clean-up standards and daily schedules are followed
- Completes daily cleaning sheet
- Ensures disposal of waste and garbage schedule and procedures are followed
- Receive, organizes and stores meat in cooler and freezer
- To be a role model in "living the culture" of Pete's Frootique
- Perform and assist in other duties as directed by Meat and Seafood Manager.
