BC Cancer is seeking to fill the position of Program Medical Director, Provincial Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The successful applicant will be responsible for program development and overall quality of services for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine across the province as part of high quality, patient centered interdisciplinary care in collaboration with the Department Head Pathology and Laboratory Medicine BC Cancer Vancouver, Senior Executive Medical Directors and Executive Directors at BC Cancer, and other professional practice and provincial leaders. The Program Medical Director provides overall leadership within BC Cancer for Provincial Pathology and Laboratory Medicine including oncologic anatomic, lymphoproliferative/hematopathology, and molecular pathology.

Other key relationships include: Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Leads in the Heath Authorities, Head of UBC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Executive Director Provincial Programs at BC Cancer, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine leaders at BC Cancer.

Pathologist who graduated from an approved medical school with certification in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine from an approved residency training program with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
Minimum of 3 years of successful leadership and/or administrative experience in a relevant health care environment. Executive or leadership training (e.g. MBA, PMI or equivalent) is considered to be an asset.
Working knowledge in all areas of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
Eligibility for or licensing by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC.
Eligibility for or current appointment to the medical staff of BC Cancer.

Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
