We are excited to recruit for the position of Manager, Financial Reporting Cochrane is a rapidly growing community. A key focus in this role will be innovation through technology and process improvements to ensure the long-term financial success for the Town.
The Financial Services department champions financial stewardship and policy framework for the organization. In addition to long-range financial planning and budgeting to balance saving for the future and paying for current needs, Financial Services manages accounts payable, accounts receivable, capital project financing and tracking, utilities, animal and business licensing, and financial reporting.
The Manager, Financial Reporting is responsible for the timely reporting of Cochrane’s financial information to internal and external stakeholders. They will lead the operations and management of the team responsible for financial reporting and analysis by connecting issues management and building systems.

**Some of the responsibilities include**:

- Manage the year-end financial statement reporting and audit process to deliver working papers and supporting documentation to the external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with PSAB standards and Municipal Government Act.
- Manage the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements.
- Prepare appropriate financial reports for public presentation to Council, Optimize financial reporting processes.
- Prepare detailed internal financial reports including researching and explaining significant variances by working closely with various department directors and managers.
- Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support internal stakeholders and organizational budgeting processes. Evaluate, recommend, implement, and ensure compliance with financial controls.
- Perform quality assurance and deliver recurring reports accurately and on-time.
- Interpret and analyze financial information posted to general ledger accounts.
- Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Play crucial role in implementing new software for department improvement and efficiencies.
- Act as a member of the management team responsible for developing and implementing the strategic direction of the Financial Services team.
- Provide training, coaching, leadership, and support to the Financial Services team through ongoing mentorship and the performance management process.

- University degree in Accounting, Business or Finance
- CPA designation or near completion considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in an accounting/finance related environment
- Experience within a municipal environment or public sector organization
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a progressively responsible management role
- In-depth understanding of public sector accounting standards (PSAS)
- Advanced Microsoft skills required, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Extensive experience using a financial system/ERP system, MS Dynamics Great Plains and Diamond are preferred
