**Job Summary**:
**Job Duties**:

- Assists with **site inspections**, in response to resident/interdepartmental requests for service of City owned trees. Completes light to moderate maintenance activities during site inspections, as needed, using handheld tools such as pole pruners, pole saws, handsaws, and secateurs.
- ** Collaborates** with various interdepartmental City staff on tree preservation and compensation requirements of City-wide internal projects. Schedules, facilitates, attends, and documents site meetings with developers, landscape architects, contractors, and various interdepartmental staff for the purpose of representing the City’s urban forest interests.
- Performs **inspections** and **assists in the execution** of various urban forestry programs, such as the annual tree planting program, the cyclical pruning program and other urban forest projects. Assists with quality assurance, contractor monitoring and provides on-site direction, as needed.
- ** Assist and guides** work with seasonal forestry data collectors. Assisting with questions and technical guidance of assigned tasks, as needed.
- ** Prepares** written technical and other reports, as needed. Prepares and presents presentations to the public and staff.
- ** Provides** regular systematic updates to the City-wide tree inventory; assists with the coordination of inventory data management and records.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Job Qualifications**:

- Minimum post-secondary diploma in environmental science, urban forestry, forestry or combined equivalent of education and experience in arboriculture, forestry, or ecology
- Minimum 3-5 years related experience working in urban forestry
- Working experience should include a combination of hands-on experience in assessing tree risk, forestry operations and completing condition assessment reports.
- Current International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist
- Current Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ)
- Valid ‘G’ Ontario driver’s license with a clean driver's abstract (no demerit points and no more than one moving infraction)
- Working knowledge of tree physiology and biology, tree health, common insect and disease, hazard identification and mitigation, arboricultural best practices, applicable federal and provincial legislation, and City by-laws
- Working knowledge of various urban forestry maintenance tasks, including but not limited to safe use of chainsaws, chippers, aerial lift devices (bucket trucks), stump grinders, tree climbing techniques, crane operations, and temporary traffic control (Ontario Book 7)
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and interpreting blueprints, construction drawings and various landscaping plans.

- Provides regular systematic updates to the City-wide digital tree inventory; assists with the coordination of inventory data management and records.
