Building Custodian

Mission Community Services Society is opening a brand new housing complex and we are hiring a Building Custodian to join the team.

The Building Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the building and its surrounding property. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks, and ensuring the overall cleanliness and hygiene standards are upheld. The Building Custodian will also be tasked with reporting any damage or issues within the building to the Property Manager.

**What you'll do**
- Keep the building and property in a clean and orderly condition.
- Perform routine maintenance activities, such as replacing light bulbs.
- Execute heavy cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming floors.
- Gather and empty trash receptacles.
- Scrub, sanitize, and restock restroom facilities.
- Dust furniture, walls, and equipment.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and partitions using appropriate cleaning agents.
- Prepare cleaning solutions and chemicals as per instructions.
- Adhere to procedures for the safe use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage.
- Shampoo or steam-clean carpets and rugs.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Notify manager about necessary repairs or additions to building systems.
- Perform any other related duties as required.

**What you bring**
- Completion of Building Service Worker certificate.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Criminal Record Check for the vulnerable sector.
- Certification in First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or MANDT.
- Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods, some lifting, use of ladders.
- Experience with cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules.
- Effective communication skills and basic computer skills.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $21.72-$24.87 per hour

Expected hours: 16 per week
