The Dispatch Specialist (DS) is accountable for the forward progress of highway dispatch initiatives focused on training, support and process improvement. The DS will also work closely with the other Operations Supervisory and Management Team regarding the established goals/programs and will continually assess established processes by recognizing current and potential issues and needs, as well as competitive advantages and disadvantages. The DS will also act as a point of resource to offer support to the entire Central Highway Dispatch team in matters of performance and follow up.

Specific responsibilities include:

- Support the department and drivers in all areas of operations - day to day support in decision making, day to day task completion, coaching, mentoring, process management and efficiency identification.
- Responsible in ensuring awareness and acting on the needs of the department.
- Various reporting to leadership and peers on the status of various KPI’s.
- Play a key role in helping resolve driver/dispatch issues as they occur.
- Build foundation for Continuous Improvement, development and implementation of processes, ideas and behaviors that will drive efficiency.
- Key contact for internal customers, providing a single point of contact for the Central Dispatch for items such as delay notification, conflict resolution and service.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Previous dispatch experience is required.
- Dedicated experience providing customer service in a fast-paced work environment.
- Well organized, an excellent communicator and have a keen sense of timeliness.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, communication, problem solving and planning abilities.
- Ability to multitask and to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
