How will you contribute?
The position is accountable for leading and managing the formulation and implementation of the long-term vision, strategy, related plans and projects for all technical security systems of the Senate of Canada, and for supporting the operational requirements of the Senate internal corporate security. This position provides leadership and operational management for the delivery of major parliamentary construction, rehabilitation; renovation and occupancy projects in the role of knowledgeable client and technical authority related to all facets of security requirements, in order to successfully deliver a large program of work made up of many projects significant in scope. The incumbent must ensure the delivery of the long term strategic planning and implementation of security requirements at the Senate in the context of the Long Term Vision and Plan, Senate internal projects, technological projects and ensure the continued availability of services related to all facets of technical operations for day to day activities on existing systems and infrastructure.

The incumbent plans, directs, and manages the following corporate security business streams on behalf of the Director: security project management; technical and physical security systems and infrastructure; technical security countermeasures; threat and risk assessments (TRA); locksmith services and security building connectivity and components.

The general public to staff one (1) permanent (Full-time) position in the Corporate Security Directorate. This selection process may be used to staff other similar positions.

Prerequisites
- Post-secondary education in a security related field OR acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to security and/or project management;
- Five (5) years experience in the strategic leadership of projects, project management, planning, physical security and design, technology and the management of financial and human resources in a complex work unit with multiple stakeholders, technical operations and/or security project related environment;
- Extensive experience in mediating and negotiating with senior leaders, internal and external stakeholders and security partners with distinct yet complimentary mandates in the development and harmonization of security standards, processes and protocols such as locking strategies in a complex integrated security framework;
- Extensive experience in conducting security analysis’ in the context of renovation and construction projects, in preparing complex documents such as Threat and Risk Assessments, Security Design Briefs, business proposals and briefing materials as well as the provision of expert advice and recommendations to senior management on security-related issues;
- Extensive experience in the planning and delivery of technical security operations particularly in the context of a high-profile and national institution with complex operational dimensions and technical security challenges;
- Experience for providing strategic and operational direction and expertise to the development and implementation of directorate-wide short and medium to long term strategies, plans and priorities governing the delivery of technical security programs, as well as the management of major technical security projects;
- Must possess excellent communication skills and recent experience in representing an organization at senior level meetings. Demonstrated ability to elaborate and provide explanations on the evolving dimensions of technical security requirements and protocols, as well as recent experience in presenting and defending technical security system and project proposals, and obtaining agreement on evolving security policy provisions and procedural measures;
