Buyer/Material Planner

Location: Blenheim, Ontario

Shift: Day Shift (7:30am - 3:30pm)

**Job Summary**:
As a Buyer/Material Planner, you will play a critical role in managing the procurement and planning of materials for our manufacturing site. This position involves coordinating with suppliers, managing inventory, and ensuring timely availability of materials to meet production demands.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Purchasing & Procurement:

- Manage daily purchasing activities including obtaining quotes, creating, and issuing purchase orders, and following up with vendors.
- Participate in supplier sourcing, development, and contract negotiations.
- Monitor and resolve issues related to pricing, delivery terms, and invoicing.
- Maintain inventory levels and manage job-specific material needs.

**Material Planning & Coordination**:

- Develop and manage material forecasts based on demand data using SAP.
- Communicate with suppliers and internal stakeholders about order status and delivery changes.
- Coordinate with engineering, purchasing, and other departments to ensure material availability.
- Review and validate inventory levels, initiating additional orders as necessary.
- Perform daily SAP system reviews and metric analysis to identify material shortages.
- Support production scheduling, material moves, and assembly builds.
- Manage inter-warehouse transfers and ensure accurate booking in SAP for inventory control.

**Inventory Management**:

- Support Cycle Counting and Physical Inventory schedules; reconcile variances.
- Develop stocking strategies to optimize production flow and reduce lead times.
- Support and drive continuous improvement in inventory control processes.

**Cross-Functional Collaboration**:

- Work with Customer Service, Sales, and Customers to address lead time and delivery inquiries.
- Collaborate daily with purchasing, warehousing, shipping/receiving, and manufacturing teams.
- Support manufacturing in capacity management and job sequencing.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP Business One preferred).
- Strong understanding of purchasing and material planning concepts.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with co-workers, suppliers, and customers.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and diligence.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
