Nebulizer Technician
Welcome to **Burgener Research **in **Sidney, BC**. We are an unusual company who make and sell nebulizers which are sold to labs around the world for chemical testing. We are a family owned and operated company with an Ontario office that has been established for nearly 30 years, and an office in Sidney that opened in 2019. Our Sidney office is growing and we are looking for **1 or 2** more nebulizer technicians to add to our team.
Firstly, no, you do not need to know what a nebulizer is or how it works. All necessary training will be provided.
**Essential qualities in a nebulizer technician**:
- Must enjoy a challenge
- Patience
- Steady hands
- Hand / eye coordination
- Not easily frustrated
- Ability to work with small tools (ie. needles, x-acto knives)
- Capable of getting to an office in Sidney, BC
**Skills that are an asset, but not required**:
- Experience using a microscope
- Background in lab work
- Knowledge of nebulizers, ICPs, ICP-MSs, spectrometry etc.
Daily duties will include inspection of small plastic parts under a microscope, assembly of parts, and nebulizer calibration which is done with compressed air and water. You will be part of a small office team in a calm and quiet work environment with your own work station and equipment.
This is a **part time** job with a fairly **flexible schedule** between Monday to Friday. This means that you can set your own hours, so long as there is enough overlap with our current staff. Expectations are that new employees will start out at 30 hours a week (**6 hours a day**) as they are learning new skills, until they become more comfortable with the roll. As you learn the art of nebulizer making and you produce products faster, the schedule becomes more flexible and hours can decrease to 20-30 hours a week, and compensation will increase accordingly.
There will be a **3 month probation** period to ensure you are physically capable of making a nebulizer. During this time we will be looking for improvement and ability to follow direction. Completely training someone how to make a successful nebulizer takes at least 1 year, so **we are looking for long term commitments (6 years+).**
Compensation will begin at an **hourly wage of $25**, with expected raises after 3-6 months, or as certain targets are met in terms of production numbers and number of successful nebulizers produced. We also aim to give bonuses once or twice a year if the company is doing well.
The interview process will take place in **two** separate stages:
First, a formal sit-down interview to ascertain relevant experience and potential.
The second interview will consist of a tour around the office to familiarize you with our set up, and a practical test under a microscope to judge your comfort level using tiny tools.
Our building is equipped with a bicycle rack outside and some parking. Our office has a new lunch room, open concept work space, new office equipment and shower facilities if you enjoy running or biking to work.
There is no set start date for this job position, and preferred start dates can be discussed. We will continue to leave this position posted until we find the right people for the job.
