- British ColumbiaThe City of Port Moody Fire Rescue Services is recruiting Volunteer Firefighters. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to your community and gain valuable training and experience. Volunteer Firefighters are extensively trained according to NFPA Standards.

Volunteers complement the Career Firefighters in response to fires, rescues, medical, and other emergencies. They also contribute to the community as volunteers and participants in events such as the **Penguin Plunge, Mayor's BBQ, Pancake Breakfast, CP Holiday Train **and many other social and recreational occasions.

**Volunteer Firefighters are expected to attend Wednesday evening practice sessions (19:00 to 21:00) as well as occasional weekend practices, and to participate in community events.**

The selection process will include background and medical checks, physical fitness evaluation, panel interview, and a practial ride-along assessment process to select individuals to undergo training in firefighting and emergency response.
- There is an optional info session on Thursday, September 14th at 19:30 (ending at approx. 21:00) at Port Moody Inlet Center Fire Hall (150 Newport Drive). This session will introduce you to the current Port Moody Volunteer firefighters, with a detailed explanation of the training and expectations as a volunteer firefighter, and hands on opportunities to see firefighter equipment, trucks, and gear. Attendees may also try out the different physical ability stations. Hiring process will also be covered._
- Proof of current residency
- A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
- A recent driver's abstract (no older than 30 days)
- 18+ age minimum

Required Qualifications:

- Canadian citizenship, Resident or Landed Immigrant status
- A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
- Physically fit
- Minimum grade 12 education

Preferred Qualifications:

- Minimum OFA 1 (Includes CPR-A Adults)
- Class 3 with Air Endorsement

Recruitment Schedule (tentative):

October 21st: Physical Assessment

October 30th week: Panel interviews begin

November 9, 16, 23, 30: Four Thursday night Ride Along Assessments, 2 hours each

Dec. 2023 / Jan. 2024: Background Checks & Medical Assessments

February /March 2024: Estimated start dates
