**Economic Development Communications Student to Join the Team**:
**Position Summary**:
The Economic Development Communications Student position is a full-time, temporary summer student position that supports the community outreach and communication work of Huron County’s Economic Development department.

16-week position beginning May 6 to August 23, 2024.

**Role and Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the creation of unique and creative content for multiple social media channels that promote Huron county and build credibility, engagement and followers.
- Research market, identify opportunities, generate interest and support incorporating trends.
- Spend time engaging and maintaining relationships with partners, businesses and event stakeholders.
- Support SEO for website, blogs and press releases by integrating and optimizing them through social media.
- Review Google analytics to identify traffic-enhancing activities.
- Travel throughout the county to gather content for communications products
- support the creation of podcast content
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures that support the Management, organization and Maintenance of Department Databases.
- Support with Writing, editing, and sending out communications.
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications and Education Requirements**:

- Education: Entering final year of secondary school or currently enrolled in a post-secondary program.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
- Experience using a number of social media platforms Including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Hootsuite and Meta Business Suite.
- Proficient in developing creative and engaging content (graphics & copy; videos; photos).
- Clear understanding of Microsoft suite, Adobe and Canva.
- Detail-oriented
- Excellent time management skills.
- Demonstrates Strong problem-solving skills.
- The position is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program that requires eligible students be between 15 and 30 years of age.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Driver’s license, good driving record, and access to a vehicle (if in-person only)
- Previous Experience working in COMMUNICATIONS is an asset
- graphic design skills are an asset
- Experience with WordPress is an asset

**Wage**:

- $16.86 to $23.85 per hour; as per the 2023 non-union student wage grid. Wage increases with the level of education and seniority.
