First Mate

**St. Lawrence Cruise Lines Inc.** is seeking applicants for the position of First Mate for a Kingston-based overnight cruise ship on 4, 5, 6 and 7 night voyages to Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec City. The Canadian Empress is a 64-passenger small ship rated over 60 tons.

**Certifications Required**:

- Mate Limited over 60 Tons
- Marine First Aid

**The Mate is responsible for the following**:

- Assist the Captain with bridge duties
- Deckhand supervision and direction
- Lead on all dockings, departures and locking
- Debarkation and Boarding
- Participate in work detail
- Passenger safety drills and first aid
- Inspections: Rooms, Corridors & Spaces
- Good passenger relations

**Work Periods**:

- Full time, Seasonal (May-October)
- 11+ hours per day (on average)
- 4, 5, 6 and 7 night cruises

**Wages and Compensation**:

- Salary commensurate with experience and certification
- Transportation to/from ports provided (with food allowance)
- Meals and accommodation provided while cruising
