Shop Carpenter

Prefabricated homes are the future of the building industry and we continue to educate ourselves and collaborate inside the industry to deliver the best possible prefab components to our clients. This is and always will be our goal. Over the years our team has grown and our skill set has widened. We've trained with Passive House Canada to become certified Passive House designers and builders and we now use 3D software to design every inch of our homes pre fabricated components, before it's built on site.

**THE POSITION**

Essential Duties and Accountabilities
- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
- Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
- Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
- Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools.
- Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level.
- Maintain records, document actions, and present written progress reports.
- Erect scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
- Anchor and brace forms and other structures in place, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, wedges, and timbers.
- Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
- Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
- Examine structural timbers and supports to detect decay, and replace timbers as required, using hand tools, nuts, and bolts.

**Qualifications**:

- One to four years of work experience
- A secondary school diploma or GED
- _**A diploma from an accredited post - secondary institution in carpentry, woodworking, or construction and/or a completed apprenticeship would be considered an asset**_

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Brighton, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Construction: 1 year (required)
