**_Job Summary:_**

Reporting to the Home Environment Director, the Housekeeper will be responsible for caring for the housekeeping and laundry needs of our elders by cleaning their suites in a courteous and prompt manner. The housekeeper ensures that suites and common areas are cleaned to a standard that ensures quality as well as assists in maintaining adequate inventories.

**_ WHAT YOU’LL DO:_**
- Include the elders in all daily care of the neighbourhoods in relation to cleaning their suite.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the neighbourhoods, suites and the home in general according to schedules.
- Clean each elder’s suite as outlined in the Home Environment Services Manual if requested by the elder/family. I facilitate an elder doing their own cleaning if so requested.
- Take direction from the elders related to cleaning in their suite, respecting their choice to do it themselves if they would like.
- Report needed repairs. This ensures a safe neighbourhood and suite for our elders.
- Work with the Home Environment Manager and Home Environment Director to ensure that cleaning supplies and chemicals are available for daily care of the home.
- Ensure that my work does not increase risk to our elders by putting up wet floor signs and always keeping corridors clear with housekeeping carts kept to one side.
- Other duties as assigned.

**_ What You Need to Be Successful: _**
- Completion or currently working towards Grade 12 high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, concern, and interest in providing quality care and service to elders.
- Ability to communicate with well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to fluently read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to speak another language is considered an asset.
- Ability to interrelate well with others and establish positive relationships with elders, their families, other staff members, volunteers, and the public.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a progressive change-oriented environment.
- Maintains interest in learning more about person-directed care.
- Ability to manage the associated physical, emotional, and psychological demands of the work involved.
