**Reporting**

The Writer will report to the World Director.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Create compelling authored characters to populate our world. Includes crafting backstories, developing personalities, and writing dialogue.
- Contribute to developing single and multi-season story arcs. Includes outlining storylines and writing scripts for scripted events and cinematics.
- Help to ensure the game's voice, tone, and vision is consistent and credible across the entire experience.
- Create memorable and credible fictional brands, institutions, and companies inside the game world. Includes corporate histories, notable products, organizational structure/major execs, and branding/slogan work.
- Collaborate with level designers and game designers to integrate narrative content into the game.

**Experience** and Skills Required**
- Committed to being kind. Appreciate and contribute to maintaining a psychologically safe environment.
- An understanding that diverse perspectives and points of view enhance our game and the medium.
- An ability to craft authentic and contemporary stories, characters, and dialogue.
- Familiar with and interested in writing stories inspired by tech, business, and political events around the world.
- ** Game development and production experience is not required**, but an appreciation of the medium is.
- Appreciate and respect the unique limitations and opportunities provided by the medium, but also eager to find ways to disrupt and subvert them.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience working on live service games in a narrative and/or design role.
- Great interpersonal communication skills with an ability to successfully partner across all levels of a team and organization.
- Experience innovating in the interactive narrative space.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity. Able to display flexibility and adaptability to adjust plans and strategies as new information is gained or as project conditions change.
- ** Nice to have**: Experience with advertising copywriting. **Note**: this is not for marketing purposes, but in-game world-building & set-dressing.
