**National Grant writer (contract)**

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada is seeking a **National Grant Writer **to support new and exiting program activities and the development, writing and submission of grant proposals. As a key member of the National Fund Development team the Grants Writer/Proposal Writer plays an essential role in supporting and achieving the national fundraising and strategic partnership activities.

Our national organization provides services and programs to our membership agencies to assist them in their work with parents, caregivers, school communities, mentees, and volunteers.

Our staff and volunteers support diverse young Canadians by providing a safe passage through childhood. We help children overcome adversities and provide opportunities for them to grow and thrive as young adults.

What will you be doing in this role?

This is an 12-18 hours per week position that reports to the National Vice President, Fund Development, and Marketing. This is a part time opportunity to support BBBSC National Fund Development Team. The Grant Writer will:

- Provide grant writing and development services to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada
- Conduct additional prospect research to identify new opportunities that align with the Big Brothers Big Sisters mission and vision.
- Carry out additional ongoing prospecting to identify new funding opportunities through corporate, foundation and government funding opportunities, grant planning, strategy and development.
- Participate in internal team meetings as required.
- Performing other tasks or duties as assigned.

**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**
- A degree/certification in the field of Communications, Journalism, Creative Writing Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the field
- Demonstrate measurable results and personal performance in grant writing initiatives.
- Understand the funding mechanisms that assist national and not-for-profit charities.
- Experience in writing government grants, researching and securing grants.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office particularly, Excel, PowerPoint along with Adobe Acrobat; Knowledge of Grant Connect or similar platforms an asset.
- Robust writing skills with experience writing reports and detail oriented.
- Experience working within a Federated model, charities and/or not-for-profit organizations.
- Fluency in speaking, writing, and reading in English.
- Ability to communicate complex terminology and services to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on ensuring principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion are respected.
- Highly motivated, resourceful, and eager to contribute.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: $40.00-$55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 - 18 per week
