Business Systems Analyst - Full Time, 10 month (MAT leave coverage)
Located in Vancouver, BC, with remote possible

The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) role is critical in the solution development lifecycle, from developing and documenting requirements through to production launch.
As a member of the MakeWay Information Systems (IS) team, and reporting into the Senior Manager of Information Systems, you’ll be a key member of a dedicated team focused on investigating, documenting, and helping us better understand the current state of our infrastructure after years of growth.
MakeWay builds partnerships and solutions to help nature and communities thrive together. We are made up of two legal charitable entities: MakeWay Charitable Society, a shared platform home to over 65 innovative community-led projects staffed by 150 change makers; and MakeWay Foundation where about 70 people are advancing place-based programs that support Indigenous-led solutions and conservation in the North, Pacific, Manitoba, and beyond via grant-making, funder collaboratives and other tools. **What You’ll Do**:
- Develop a strong understanding of the operations across relevant domains.
- Analyze operational processes, elicits, and defines both business and solution requirements using industry standard methodologies.
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with relevant stakeholders using various techniques (such as interviews, workshops) to develop Business Requirements Document or equivalent.
- Work closely with the Solutions team to ensure that business requirements are translated into detailed design or functional specifications documents as required.
- Research and make recommendations for “buy” versus “build" software solutions.
- Provide input for the sizing/estimation of BA work during a planning phase.
- Create user guides and provide end user training as required.
- Partner with the stakeholders to help drive user adoption of solutions.
- Support the implementation planning and execution of solutions.
- Assist with technical/configuration work on third party product solutions when needed.
- Collaborate on the development of Test Strategies and Plan(s).
- Create and execute Quality Assurance test cases in collaboration with developers as necessary.
- Drive the creation of user acceptance test cases and manages User Acceptance Test execution and approval for each product release.
- Identify and track bugs and assist in the reproduction and resolution of defects.
- Perform thorough regression testing for each release using manual or automated tools.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Who You Are**:
- Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Self-motivated with good organizational and strong facilitation skills to deliver on multiple projects and deadlines and changing priorities.
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with others.
- Detail-oriented with tasks that require a high level of precision while addressing any errors and inconsistencies as they come up.
**Experience You Bring**:
- 3-5 years’ of industry experience in a related field (i.e BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology).
- 1-2 years' experience in a quality assurance role or testing role.
- Experience leading full end-to-end BA process from requirements gathering to user acceptance testing.
- Experienced in requirements elicitation and management, using a variety of techniques.
- Proficient Business Analysis skills, including user test case preparation and management.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to decompose more complex problems and/or processes into logical parts.
- Experience acting in the role of a Project Coordinator for small projects using predictive (plan-driven) or adaptive (iterative/agile) methodologies.
**It Would be a Bonus if You Have**:
- Undergraduate degree in a related field (i.e BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology).
- CBAP, IIBA or other recognized business analysis certifications considered an asset.
- Prior experience with Salesforce.
- Prior experience with Box and Smartsheet.
- 1-2 years’ experience with non-profits.
- Experience working with automation testing tools and writing automation testing scripts.
