As the **CONTROLLER**, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities and ensuring the financial health and integrity of our company. We expect you to play a crucial role in managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis while providing strategic guidance to the executive team. This role is in our Montreal office and is on-site.

**WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING**
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Develop annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with department heads and senior management. Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and operational efficiency
- Manage cash flow and implement strategies to optimize working capital and minimize financial risks
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct periodic audits to assess control effectiveness
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax filings. Stay updated on tax laws and regulations to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax efficiency
- Assist in strategic financial planning initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, capital investments, and business expansion opportunities
- Oversee day-to-day functions of the accounting team and provide leadership to the team

**WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR**
- A min of 5 years experience in a finance role and with at least 3 years experience in a supervision role
- Proven experience as a Controller or similar role in the distribution industry, preferably within the garment sector would be ideal
- Bachelor’s degree in an accounting/finance or related field - CA designation preferred
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management
- Experience with ERP systems and financial software
- Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to present financial information effectively to diverse audiences
- Ability to strategize and solve problems
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
