**Position: Dance Therapy Guide**

**Location: Headstart's Digital Studio in Toronto**

**Job Summary**:
As a Dance Therapy Guide at Headstart, you will play a vital role in helping our members explore and process their emotions, thoughts, and experiences through the medium of dance and movement. Your expertise in dance therapy techniques and your nurturing and empathetic approach will create a safe and supportive space for individuals to embark on a journey of self-exploration and healing. Through your guidance and encouragement, clients will develop a deeper understanding of themselves, enhance their emotional well-being, and find empowerment through movement.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct remote dance therapy sessions.
- Utilize a range of dance and movement exercises to facilitate emotional expression, stress reduction, and personal growth.
- Create a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their feelings and experiences through dance.
- Incorporate various dance styles, improvisation, and creative movement to support clients in their therapeutic journey.
- Observe and assess clients' progress and emotional responses during sessions, adapting the approach as needed.
- Collaborate with other wellness professionals, such as counselors or psychologists, to integrate dance therapy with other therapeutic modalities.
- Document and maintain accurate records of client sessions, progress, and treatment plans.
- Offer clients ongoing support and encouragement in their process of self-discovery and healing.
- Organize and lead dance therapy workshops, community events, and outreach programs to promote the benefits of dance therapy.
- Stay up-to-date with current research and developments in the field of dance therapy, and continuously improve your knowledge and skills.

**Qualifications**:

- Certified Dance Therapist with a minimum of 2 years of experience in providing dance therapy services.
- In-depth understanding of dance therapy techniques, psychology, and the mind-body connection.
- Strong ability to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment for clients.
- Empathetic and compassionate nature, with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship.
- Proficiency in a variety of dance styles and movement techniques, tailored to clients' needs and preferences.
- Previous experience in facilitating individual and group therapy sessions is preferred.
- Additional certifications or training in related modalities, such as counseling or expressive arts therapy, are advantageous.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate client schedules.
